Critical minerals are essential for driving economic growth and supporting various strategic sectors within a country. When these resources are limited or concentrated in specific regions, it presents challenges to supply chains, risking disruptions in availability. Minerals like lithium, cobalt, nickel, and graphite play a key role in facilitating the global transition to a low-carbon economy and bolstering renewable energy technologies, especially as more countries commit to achieving 'Net Zero' goals. It’s imperative to develop and reinforce the sustainable supply of these critical minerals to meet domestic demands. 

KABIL is committed not only to securing the nation’s mineral resources but also to fostering import substitution. Currently, KABIL is focused on sourcing lithium and cobalt through various avenues, including trade opportunities, collaborations with government entities, strategic investments in mining assets, and the establishment of commercial agreements with foreign partners. The company is actively engaging with nations recognized for their critical mineral resources, such as Argentina and Australia, to secure a steady supply for India’s downstream industries through acquisitions or investments.

In January 2024, KABIL launched its first exploration and mining initiative for lithium in Argentina. Due diligence is currently underway for lithium and cobalt mining projects in several countries, including Australia, as part of its investment strategy. Additionally, KABIL is working to build structured partnerships with stakeholders in the mid and downstream sectors of the industry—including battery materials, components manufacturing, and battery/cell production—to establish a cohesive supply chain.

With robust technical and financial backing from its promoter companies and support from the Ministry of Mines, Government of India, KABIL is steadfastly pursuing the goal of ensuring a reliable supply of critical minerals within India.
