National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) | A Govt. of India Enterprise

National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) is a Schedule ‘A’ Navratna CPSE established on 7th January, 1981 having its registered office at Bhubaneswar.  It is one of the largest integrated Bauxite - Alumina – Aluminium - Power Complex in the Country. At present, Government of India holds 51.28% of paid up equity capital. 

The Company has been operating its captive Panchpatmali Bauxite Mines for the pit head Alumina refinery at Damanjodi, in the District of Koraput in Odisha and Aluminium Smelter & Captive Power Plant at Angul. The Company has a 68.25 lakh TPA Bauxite Mine & 21.00 lakh TPA (normative capacity) Alumina Refinery located at Damanjodi in Koraput district of Odisha, and 4.60 lakh TPA Aluminium Smelter & 1200MW Captive Power Plant located at Angul, Odisha. The Company has established a caustic soda plant in JV with Gujarat Alkalies & Chemicals Limited (GACL) in Gujarat.

The Company has regional sales offices in Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai and 7 operating stockyards at various locations in the Country to facilitate domestic consumers. In addition, NALCO has its own bulk shipment facility for export of products.

NALCO is one of the leading foreign exchange earning CPSEs of the Country. The Company continues to retain its position of lowest cost producer in Bauxite and Alumina production in the World in 2022. NALCO is registered with London Metal Exchange (LME) since May, 1989, listed at Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) since 1992 and National Stock Exchange (NSE) since 1999.

 

 

Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL)

Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL) is a Schedule 'A' Miniratna Category - I Central Public Sector Enterprise under the administrative control of the Ministry of Mines, Government of India, incorporated on 9th November 1967. It has the distinction of being the nation’s only vertically integrated copper producing company as it manufactures copper right from the stage of mining to beneficiation, smelting, refining and casting of refined copper metal into downstream saleable products.

HCL at present has 5 operating underground copper mines along with concentrator plants, 2 smelting-refinery facilities and a Continuous cast copper Rod manufacturing facility spread across its five operating Units, namely: Malanjkhand Copper Project (MCP) at Madhya Pradesh, Khetri Copper Complex (KCC) at Khetrinagar, Rajasthan, Indian Copper Complex (ICC) at, Jharkhand, Taloja Copper Project (TCP) at Maharashtra, Gujarat Copper Project (GCP) at Gujarat.

In the Malanjkhand Copper Project (MCP), an underground mine with 5 MTPA capacity is being developed with about 900m vertical depth in phases, below an open pit mine which has reached its ultimate pit limit after reaching a depth of 250m. The company is in capacity expansion phase to reach 12 MTPA production capacity by FY 2028-29, by opening of new mines, reopening of closed mines and expansion of old mines.

Mineral Exploration and Consultancy Limited (Formerly Mineral Exploration Corporation Limited) was established as a premier exploration agency in 1972 as a Central Public Sector under the under the aegis of Ministry of Mines, Government of India with a mandate to undertake detailed exploration of mineral acreages “To Bridge the Gap Between Initial Discovery of Mineral Prospect and its Eventual Exploitation”.
